Ata Muhammad Noor, Rashid Dostum, and a few others did not oppose
During the talks, it was determined to face the Taliban. – Interview
Peshawar: In an exclusive interview, former Afghan President Ashraf Ghani disclosed that in the context of his government’s reservations regarding the Doha agreement, during government consultations held in the first week of August 2021, it was decided that Afghan forces would mount a strong resistance throughout the country, including Kabul, when the Taliban attempt to enter. However, after August 7, the Taliban took control of several important provinces in northern Afghanistan without any opposition, and some other important commanders and officials, such as Rashid Dostum and Ata Mohammad Noor, did not even issue a symbolic call to resist or wage war. This resulted in the implementation of the government’s unanimous decision to resist an odd situation.
He said that for years, the state and its allies had provided the best incentives to the commanders and Afghan security forces to protect the nation and government. However, when the time came, some important officials not only played a very suspicious role, but they also failed to carry out the unanimous decision that the forces needed to fight and resist the Taliban’s attempts to enter the country. In response to a question, the former president stated that he traveled to northern Afghanistan after hearing reports of no resistance and met and conferred with important commanders. However, things did not go as planned, and the Taliban quickly took control of many northern provinces, making it impossible for anyone to resist thereafter and things went out of the hands of the government.
