GHAG Report

Renowned journalists and experts from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have acknowledged the peaceful conduct of the ongoing banned PTM’s jirga in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, but they have also highlighted a variety of worries in the form of questions.

Adil Shahzeb (Senior Anchorperson)

Senior anchorperson Adil Shahzeb stated that although the PTM has been portraying itself as a non-political group defending Pashtun rights, it is crucial to remember that some of its members are actively opposing and desecrating Pakistan’s flag, security, and constitution. However, it appears that they have other plans. As a result, one must stay away from such components. For at any cost, anti-Pakistan slogans and activities are unacceptable.

Mahmood Jan Babar (Senior Journalist)

Senior journalist Mahmood Jan Babar says it is good that all parties involved kept the event peaceful and that those attempting to incite animosity and mischief among the Pashtuns and incite violence were thwarted. He believes that documenting a nonviolent protest inside Pakistan’s constitutional framework is a positive thing and practice.

Ali Akbar Khan (Senior Analyst)

On the third and last day of the jirga, leading analyst Ali Akbar Khan wrote on X that the PTM failed to attract a sizable crowd despite all of its boasts, the backing of the province administration, many parties, and arrangements.

Shams Momand (Journalist, Author)

The author and journalist Shams Momand, claimed that the PTM jirga lacked the necessary coordination and preparation and was incredibly disorganised in its planning. He said that to resolve issues inside Pakistan, voices should be allowed to be raised in a peaceful, democratic manner. It is also a good tradition that this facility was also granted to PTM, notwithstanding a few bitter instances.

Irfan Khan (Journalist, Analyst)

Irfan Khan, a knowledgeable analyst, claims that even with the backing of state institutions, the provincial government, and all political parties, the PTM event was not particularly successful or fruitful, and the public’s reaction could not be called noteworthy. He claims that, among other things, Asad Qaiser, who shut down several National Assembly members’ microphones during a speech about issues about tribal areas, also made a very shady, dishonest speech that aroused a lot of questions.

Barrister Dr Usman Ali (Jurist, Writer, Analyst)

In light of the PTM data, eminent jurist, writer, and analyst Barrister Dr. Usman Ali has stated that regardless of the incorrect policies of the state in the past, we Pashtuns will have to dig a grave to determine the amount of effort we made collectively to put an end to the conflict and devastation that the Pashtun people endured. He asserts that we must assess our involvement in the wars forced on Afghanistan and Pakistan as well as our level of opposition to and condemnation of the international powers that were mostly responsible for this devastation. According to him, the PTM should also bother to explain what ideological affiliation and relationship the TTP, which brought the Pashtuns to this point, not only supported this event but also formally announced a ceasefire for a few days.
