Peshawar (Ghag Report):
Mian Iftikhar Hussain, Provincial President of the Awami National Party (ANP), has strongly condemned the recent surge in terrorism across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including the tragic incidents in Jani Khel, Bannu, and Tirah.
“The relentless wave of terrorism has once again drenched Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in blood,” stated Mian Iftikhar Hussain, criticizing the provincial government for its perceived indifference. He lamented the loss of 12 precious lives in a suicide attack at a security checkpoint in Jani Khel, Bannu, and the martyrdom of 11 security personnel in Tirah due to terrorist gunfire.
“In the past 24 hours alone, over 20 lives have been lost, exposing the incompetence of the provincial administration. The indifference of the PTI-led government has turned the people of this province into a picture of despair and helplessness,” he remarked.
Hussain also highlighted that instead of addressing the deteriorating law and order situation, the government is preoccupied with protests and political interests. “The release of one individual has been prioritized over the safety and security of the entire province,” he said, pointing towards the ongoing political unrest.
He further expressed disappointment with the central government’s silence on the matter, calling it “extremely discouraging.”
Hussain underscored the ANP’s historic commitment to combating terrorism and restoring peace during its tenure. “Our party has made immense sacrifices for peace. However, the criminal negligence of the current governments has given terrorists an opportunity to regroup and strike again.”
Calling for immediate action, the ANP leader demanded the following steps:
A comprehensive and decisive policy against terrorists, developed with the consensus of all stakeholders.
Full implementation of the National Action Plan without any exceptions.
Concrete measures to ensure the safety of the public and the protection of lives and property.
“The responsibility of maintaining peace lies with the provincial government, which has failed miserably,” Hussain said. He vowed that the ANP would continue to stand with the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and raise its voice for their rights.
The recent wave of violence, coupled with the government’s perceived inaction, has raised serious concerns among the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, who are demanding immediate and effective measures to restore peace in the region.
