12 Years of PTI in KP: Governance or Politics Over Tragedies?

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government’s 12-year tenure in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) has come under scrutiny, with critics accusing it of failing to address public issues and instead engaging in politics over tragedies. PTI’s approach has often been to deflect attention from its poor governance by blaming others on assembly floors, using emotional rhetoric rather than delivering tangible solutions.

During a recent assembly session, Ali Amin Gandapur referenced hundreds of deaths during protests. However, questions arise about the identities of these individuals and the families he mentioned. Critics argue that PTI’s claims lack credibility and often fuel misinformation campaigns on social media, raising doubts about whether the party is a political entity or a tool for creating unrest.

While focusing on violent protests and political theatrics, PTI has seemingly overlooked KP’s severe economic crisis. Over the past 12 years, the province has witnessed no significant developmental projects, government facilities, or concrete solutions to fundamental public issues. The party has yet to present a clear strategy to address unemployment, education, healthcare, or infrastructure challenges.

KP is also grappling with escalating terrorism, which continues to claim lives and destabilize the province. Despite the gravity of the situation, the government appears incapable of taking effective measures to counter the threat. Analysts highlight that terrorism is often fueled by unemployment and economic instability—areas where PTI has failed to act decisively.

In stark contrast to other provinces progressing in education, healthcare, and infrastructure, KP lags far behind. Its residents face acute shortages of basic facilities, and the situation is worsening. The province urgently requires a leadership change to implement practical solutions and put it back on the path to progress.

The people of KP now need a leader who prioritizes their welfare, addresses their pressing issues, and ensures sustainable development. It is imperative for citizens to hold figures like Ali Amin Gandapur accountable and demand effective governance that genuinely serves their needs.
