In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan’s border regions, Pakistan’s security forces have stepped up their efforts against the Fitna-ul-Khawarij (TTP). Over the past three days, four intelligence-based operations in the two provinces have resulted in the deaths of about 31 Khwarij and numerous injuries. To fortify its position in the areas impacted by the insurgency, the Pakistan Army conducted these four operations. Seven Khwarijs were killed as a result of two separate operations carried out in the sensitive territory of North Waziristan in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on December 11. According to the ISPR, four Khwarij were killed during an intelligence-based operation in Miranshah, North Waziristan, and three Khwarij were killed in another operation in the Spinwam area of the same district on the same day. During these operations, Mohammad Amin, a 32-year-old security personnel from Faisalabad, embraced martyrdom while battling heroically.
A day ago, during an operation in DI Khan’s tehsil, the troops killed two wanted Khawarij and detained one. They were all sought in attacks on both military personnel and civilians. This week saw the largest and most successful operation, which neutralized 22 Fitna-ul-Khawarij terrorists in the Zhob area on the border between Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan.
According to media reports, some of those killed were not only involved in terrorist attacks in the area. Rather, many had also carried out attacks on security forces and civilians in the past in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Tank district.
In separate statements, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, President Asif Ali Zardari, and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi praised the Pakistan Army and other security forces for carrying out so many Khawarij killings this week and pledged that our valiant forces would keep making sacrifices to bring about peace and eradicate anti-national elements.
On the other hand, reliable security experts have discussed the ongoing operations of the security forces, saying that intelligence-based operations have gained momentum in the last few months and the banned TTP and other terrorist groups are not only being chased. But they are not spared anywhere.
Hundreds of terrorists, including dozens of commanders, have been killed this year in various parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, particularly in the tribal areas and southern districts, according to former Interior Secretary Brigadier (retd) Mehmood Shah, who told “Ghag” that Pakistan’s current military establishment is very serious about eliminating terrorism. In response to a question, he stated that the outlawed TTP would have perished by now if the PTI provincial government had complied with federal institutions and had not disregarded its obligations.
Senior journalist Mushtaq Yousafzai told “FM Suno Pakhtunkhwa” that the Afghan interim government’s support of banned organizations has caused Pakistan a lot of trouble and, consequently, an increase in attacks after 2021. However, as a result of the security forces’ increased operations, they do not hesitate to retaliate when given the chance.
