Gunfire and Explosions Rock Bannu and South Waziristan: Several Injured

Bannu (Ghag Report):

Intense gunfire erupted near the Surangi Adda area of Bannu as security forces engaged in a fierce exchange of fire with militants. According to initial reports, two loud explosions were also heard in the vicinity, adding to the chaos.

Police officials confirmed that six police personnel and two bystanders sustained injuries during the incident. All the injured were immediately shifted to DHQ Hospital for medical treatment.

Authorities further revealed that a police van from Cantt Police Station was on routine patrol when it was targeted by an IED blast planted along the roadside. The attack resulted in multiple casualties and significant panic in the area as security reinforcements arrived to contain the situation.

Meanwhile, a separate explosion in the Azam Warsak area of South Waziristan’s Wana region left several people injured. Although the exact number of casualties has not yet been confirmed, authorities fear a potential rise in fatalities as rescue operations continue.

Security forces have cordoned off both areas and launched search operations to apprehend the perpetrators.

The incidents highlight the growing security challenges in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where attacks on law enforcement agencies and civilians have escalated in recent months. Investigations are underway, and further updates are expected as the situation develops.
