COAS Field Marshal Asim Munir Engages with U.S. Think Tanks and Media During Washington Visit

Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, during his official visit to the United States, held an extensive and candid interaction with leading scholars, policy analysts, and representatives from prominent U.S. think tanks and international media in Washington D.C.

The high-level engagement served as a platform for the Pakistani military leadership to articulate Islamabad’s strategic vision and principled stance on key regional and global developments.

Addressing the gathering, Field Marshal Munir reiterated Pakistan’s steadfast commitment to regional peace and stability, emphasizing the country’s proactive role in fostering a rules-based international order. He provided detailed insights into significant military operations such as Maarka-e-Haq and Operation Bunyanum Marsoos, while shedding light on Pakistan’s perspective on terrorism and hybrid warfare. He also highlighted the role of certain regional actors in fueling instability through the sponsorship of terrorism.

The COAS stressed that Pakistan has been at the forefront of the global war on terror, making unparalleled sacrifices; both in lives and resource, in pursuit of a safer and more secure world.

In addition to security and strategic affairs, Field Marshal Munir underscored Pakistan’s untapped economic potential, particularly in the fields of information technology, agriculture, and the country’s underexploited mineral and mining sectors. He invited international partners to explore collaborative ventures that promise mutual growth and prosperity.

Commenting on regional and global geopolitics, the COAS presented Pakistan’s balanced and responsible approach; rooted in diplomacy, dialogue, and adherence to international law. He emphasized Pakistan’s efforts to de-escalate tensions and build cooperative security frameworks across the region.

The session also included a detailed assessment of the long-standing Pakistan–U.S. relationship. Field Marshal Munir acknowledged the historical convergence of interests between the two countries, particularly in counter-terrorism, regional stability, and economic cooperation. He expressed optimism for expanding this partnership into a broader, multidimensional alliance based on mutual respect and shared strategic priorities.
