Army Chief General Syed Asim Munir’s Address at the Special Event of Margalla Dialogue 2024 in Islamabad

A special event of Margalla Dialogue 2024 was organized by the Islamabad Policy Research Institute (IPRI).

Army Chief General Syed Asim Munir addressed the event, discussing “Pakistan’s Role in Peace and Stability.” He highlighted significant achievements in advancing regional harmony and international peace and elaborated on the following points:

Challenges of Misinformation: In recent years, the world has faced numerous challenges, among which the rapid spread of false and misleading information has emerged as a major issue.

Growing Influence of Non-State Actors: With ongoing global changes, the influence of non-state actors has also increased, presenting a critical challenge.

Global Transformations in Economy, Military, and Technology: There have been profound transformations worldwide in the economy, military, and technology sectors.

Terrorism and Non-State Violent Actors: Violent non-state actors and state-sponsored terrorism remain one of the most significant global challenges.

Role of Technology in Misinformation: While technology has played a crucial role in disseminating information, it has also facilitated the spread of false and misleading content, which remains a pressing challenge.

The Need for Comprehensive Laws and Regulations: Without comprehensive laws and regulations, the spread of misinformation and hate speech will continue to destabilize political and social structures.

Freedom of Expression Without Constraints: The lack of regulatory frameworks in the exercise of freedom of expression is leading to the erosion of moral values in societies worldwide.

Rising Religious, Sectarian, and Ethnic Inequality: Globally, inequality, intolerance, and division based on religious, sectarian, and ethnic lines are on the rise.

Shared Global Challenges: Our collective goals include addressing climate change, combating terrorism, and ensuring global health.

Pakistan’s Role in Regional and Global Peace: Pakistan is playing an essential role in promoting peace and stability both in the region and globally.

Terrorism as a Global Challenge: Terrorism remains a shared challenge for all of humanity across the globe.

Pakistan’s Unwavering Commitment to the War Against Terrorism: Our resolve in the fight against terrorism remains unshaken.

Comprehensive Border Management Regime: A comprehensive border management system has been implemented to secure our western borders.

The Rise of Terrorist Groups in the Region: Khawarij has become a hub for all global terrorist organizations and proxy forces.

Expectations from the Afghan Interim Government: Pakistan expects the Afghan interim government to ensure that Afghan soil is not used for terrorism and take strict measures to address this issue.

Vision

National Action Plan for Stability: The National Action Plan remains a key element in our vision, aimed at eliminating terrorism and extremism.

India’s Extremist Ideology: Due to India’s extremist ideology, minorities abroad, particularly in the US, UK, and Canada, are facing increasing insecurity.

Agricultural Strength: Pakistan has emerged as a leading agricultural producer globally.

Mineral Reserves: The country holds vast reserves of rare minerals.

Freelancing Hub: Pakistan has become a key player in the global freelancing market.

Geopolitical Importance of Pakistan: Thanks to its abundant resources, unique geographical location, and strategic sea ports, Pakistan plays a pivotal role in trade with Europe, Central Asia, and the Middle East.

Pakistan’s Positive Role for Regional and Global Peace: Pakistan will continue to play a positive role for the promotion of peace and stability in the region and the world.
