Lakki Marwat (Ghag Report):

In a grave security incident, unidentified armed militants hijacked a private vehicle belonging to the Atomic Energy Commission’s uranium plant in Kabal Khel, a remote area in Lakki Marwat district, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The attackers intercepted the vehicle transporting employees from Lakki Marwat city to the uranium facility, set it ablaze, and abducted all 17 unarmed civilian workers on board.

The abducted workers include Ehsanullah Khan (SR Tech), Nasir Ahmed (SC Asst-I), Irfanullah (Tech-I), Habibullah Khan (Tech-III), Sikandar Hayat (Tech-IV), Muhammad Javed Khan (Tech-I), Mazloom Khan (PR Technician), Hazrat Ali (C.O), Muhammad Aqil (Tech-IV), Yusuf Khan, son of Sher Muhammad, Muhammad Israr Khan, son of Muhammad Mir Khan, Hafiz Shabbir Ahmed, son of Ali Muhammad Khan, Noor Nawaz, son of Lol Khan, Muhammad Riaz, son of Muhammad Mir Khan, Abdul Rehman, son of Muhammad Khan, and Rehmanullah, son of Habibullah. The identity of the 17th abductee could not be verified at the time of reporting.

The attackers, believed to belong to militant groups exploiting the region for extortion, carried out the attack in a forested area near Kabal Khel. The brazen abduction has raised significant concerns, particularly due to the sensitive nature of the Atomic Energy facility involved.

In response, security forces launched a swift operation and successfully rescued eight of the abducted workers. Efforts are ongoing to recover the remaining hostages, with authorities pledging to bring the perpetrators to justice.

Sources condemned the incident, highlighting that such inhumane actions have no connection to Islamic or humanitarian values. Authorities reassured the public that all measures are being taken to recover the workers safely and enhance security for strategic assets in the region.

This incident underscores the precarious security challenges in the area and the urgent need for improved protective measures for critical facilities and personnel. Further updates are awaited as the rescue operation continues.
