Peshawar: The banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has openly expressed support for Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and called on the party to take up arms against the state. This marks a controversial and alarming development as the TTP, previously declared a terrorist organization by the state, aligns itself with the political opposition.
In a statement issued by TTP spokesperson Muhammad Khorasani, the group condemned what it described as indiscriminate firing on PTI protesters during demonstrations in Islamabad over the past three days. The TTP claimed that the violence had resulted in “dozens of deaths and hundreds of injuries.”
The statement accused the state of intensifying repression and urged PTI to retaliate with armed resistance, framing it as a legitimate response to alleged atrocities.
This development comes amidst heightened political turmoil and security challenges in the country. The TTP’s open invitation for armed rebellion against the state adds a dangerous dimension to the ongoing unrest.
Officials have yet to comment on the TTP’s provocative statement, but the alignment of a proscribed group with a mainstream political party raises significant concerns for national security and stability.
