CM Sarfraz Bugti’s Assurance Ends Two-Week Sit-In Over Kidnapped Boy in Quetta

Quetta (Ghag Report):

A two-week-long sit-in at the Balochistan Assembly Chowk demanding the recovery of a kidnapped 10-year-old boy, Muhammad Musawir, was suspended after Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti pledged swift action. The protest, led by civil society and the victim’s family, had drawn widespread attention to the abduction case.

Addressing protesters, CM Bugti expressed deep empathy, stating, “I consider Musawir as my own child.” He highlighted the provincial government’s commitment to resolving the case and assured the family of regular updates from the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) working on the matter. “We have been actively pursuing the case from day one, and the doors of the CM House remain open to the public for assistance,” he said.

Bugti also underscored the importance of dialogue in addressing public grievances and reiterated his administration’s dedication to protecting citizens. He acknowledged the protesters’ right to peaceful demonstrations, emphasizing that the entire province stands united with the victim’s family.

Following these assurances, the protest committee announced a 10-day suspension of their sit-in to allow the government time to fulfill its commitments. Civil society leaders and political activists welcomed the Chief Minister’s proactive approach but stressed the need for systemic measures to prevent such incidents in the future.

The case has reignited calls for stronger efforts to combat kidnapping in Balochistan and ensure the safety of its citizens.
