General Syed Asim Munir, NI(M), Chief of Army Staff (COAS), visited Peshawar today to review the current security situation and the progress of ongoing counter-terrorism operations. The visit followed the National Apex Committee meeting held on November 19, 2024, and in anticipation of an upcoming Provincial Apex Committee meeting.
During the visit, the COAS was given a comprehensive briefing on the regional security landscape and the ongoing efforts to combat terrorism. The meeting was attended by the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and field commanders, highlighting the collaborative efforts between military and civil leadership.
Paying tribute to the sacrifices of martyrs and veterans, the COAS emphasized the unparalleled contributions made by the armed forces and law enforcement agencies in defending the nation. He stated that these sacrifices form the cornerstone of the nation’s resilience, determination, and unyielding commitment to safeguarding Pakistan’s sovereignty.
The COAS also lauded the morale, operational readiness, and unwavering resolve of the troops, acknowledging their effectiveness in countering all forms of threats. He reaffirmed the military’s firm commitment to eradicating enemy networks and neutralizing any unlawful activities that threaten national security.
Highlighting the collective determination of the nation and its security forces in the fight against terrorism, the COAS stressed that thwarting the nefarious designs of adversarial elements remains the top priority. He assured that through timely and robust operations, the Pakistan Army, in coordination with law enforcement agencies (LEAs), will relentlessly pursue peace’s enemies, ensuring long-term stability and security in the region.
Upon his arrival, the Corps Commander Peshawar warmly welcomed General Asim Munir. The COAS’s visit underscores the continued commitment to strengthening national security and combating terrorism across the region.
