Peshawar (Ghag Report):
Drone strikes targeted militant hideouts in the rugged Hasan Khel and Tarooni mountain ranges in former Frontier Region (FR) Peshawar, eliminating two senior commanders of the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) along with multiple insurgents, sources confirmed.
Intelligence reports had indicated militant regrouping in the area, prompting a precision drone strike. Among those killed were Commander Salman and Commander Hazifa, both accused of orchestrating deadly attacks against security forces and civilians. Their elimination is seen as a significant breakthrough in disrupting militant networks in the region.
In addition to the senior commanders, several other insurgents were also killed and injured in the attack, further crippling militant operations in the area.
The Hasan Khel and Tarooni mountains have long served as havens for militants, with frequent clashes reported between insurgents and security forces. Authorities are assessing the operation’s impact while maintaining heightened security to prevent potential retaliation.
The strike highlights Pakistan’s ongoing efforts to combat terrorism and stabilize conflict-hit areas.
Meanwhile, conflicting reports have emerged regarding another drone strike in the Mohmand district. Unconfirmed accounts suggest the strike occurred in the mountainous Anbar area, killing six to seven livestock and injuring two children who were grazing the animals and came across the attack.
While local sources indicate the strike may have targeted militants, official confirmation from military and government authorities remains pending. Investigations are underway to verify these claims and determine whether insurgents were also affected.
Authorities continue to monitor developments closely as further details emerge from both operations.
