Peshawar (Ghag Report):
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan witnessed multiple operations by security forces and local communities, resulting in the killing of eight terrorists, including a key commander. In a separate incident, three people were injured in a blast near the Chaman Railway Station.
The first operation took place on Saturday in Lachi tehsil, Dera Ismail Khan, where security forces targeted militants and eliminated five terrorists, including a prominent Taliban commander, Shafi.
In Balochistan’s Zhob district, locals thwarted a militant attack by surrounding the attackers and killing three terrorists, reportedly linked to the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
In another incident on Saturday morning, armed men fired at a police vehicle in Kurram. The police retaliated, forcing the attackers to flee.
Meanwhile, efforts to rescue government officials kidnapped by the TTP in Lakki Marwat are ongoing. Security forces conducted search operations over the weekend, but no major breakthrough has been achieved so far.
The TTP recently released another video of the abductees, urging the government to accept the kidnappers’ demands. Authorities confirmed that negotiations are underway with the help of local elders, but alternative strategies, including potential operations, are also under consideration if negotiations fail.
