Government Gears Up for November 24 Protests with Stringent Security Measures

By Khalid Khan

Islamabad: In anticipation of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) protests scheduled for November 24, the Ministry of Interior has announced its strictest security measures to maintain law and order across the country. According to ministry sources, a comprehensive action plan has been issued to all relevant security agencies, signaling the government’s resolve to curb any disruptive activities during the protests.

Security Strategy and Actions

The Interior Ministry has directed security forces to remain on high alert and fully prepared. Key measures include:

Enhanced Protection for Key Installations: Special security arrangements will be implemented for all major government buildings and vital installations in the federal capital.

Deployment of Additional Personnel: A significant number of security forces will be deployed across the twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi to ensure public safety and prevent any untoward incidents.

Geo-Fencing Afghan Refugee Camps: Authorities have started geo-fencing Afghan refugee camps in the federal capital and other cities to monitor and control potential security threats.

Crackdown on Miscreants

To deter acts of violence and maintain peace, the ministry has decided on stern legal actions against those involved in disruptive activities. Measures under consideration include:

Cancellation of Academic Credentials: Students engaging in violence during protests may face the revocation of their educational degrees and admissions.

Blocking Identification Documents: The government is also mulling over suspending the passports, national identity cards, and SIM cards of individuals found participating in unlawful activities.

Terror Threats and Monitoring

In response to potential terrorist threats, the government has ramped up surveillance of suspicious locations. This proactive approach aims to ensure that any security loopholes are addressed before the protests commence.

A Message of Firmness

The government’s firm stance highlights its commitment to safeguarding public safety and ensuring that no individual or group undermines the state’s authority. The Ministry of Interior has reiterated that while peaceful protests are a constitutional right, any attempt to create chaos or disrupt daily life will be met with zero tolerance.

As the date approaches, all eyes remain on the PTI’s plans and the state’s readiness to tackle any challenges posed during the demonstrations.
