Imran Khan Announces Protest, if Negotiations Fail to Progress

Rawalpindi (Ghag Report):

Former Prime Minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Imran Khan has announced plans to launch a protest if talks regarding his political demands do not advance by tomorrow. Speaking to the media outside Adiala Jail, Khan’s lawyer, Faisal Chaudhry, revealed that Khan is prepared to take action if negotiations fail to yield results. “If talks progress by tomorrow, we are satisfied. However, if no progress is made, we will have no option but to protest,” Chaudhry quoted Khan as saying.

Khan further emphasized that his call for a protest was not just a political move but a necessity given the lack of alternative options. “Since the tragic events of May 9, this will be the second time I have called for a protest. There is no deal on the table, and negotiations will only proceed on our terms. We will engage with those who truly hold the power,” Khan stated, adding that negotiations should be based on his party’s core demands.

The PTI leader made it clear that if negotiations advance, celebrations would take place instead of protests. “If talks move forward, we will celebrate. But if they don’t, our protest will continue,” Khan said. He also emphasized that his party has consistently called for peaceful demonstrations and rejected claims regarding exaggerated financial costs associated with the planned protests.

Khan’s call for a march toward Islamabad on November 24 has been termed as a decisive protest. His party’s demands include the reversal of the 26th amendment, the release of PTI workers detained during the recent political unrest, and the restoration of electoral mandates. The PTI leader’s decision to proceed with a protest comes amidst mounting pressure on the current government and rising tensions between the opposition and the ruling establishment.
