Islamabad Transport Terminals Shut Down, Rawalpindi Under Lockdown Amid Security Measures

ISLAMABAD/RAWALPINDI (Ghag Report):

Authorities have announced the closure of all transport terminals in Islamabad from 8 PM tonight until further notice, citing heightened security concerns. Meanwhile, Rawalpindi district and city have been placed under a near-complete lockdown, with major entry and exit points sealed.

Citizens have been advised to avoid unnecessary travel as multiple roads and intersections across Rawalpindi have been blocked. Key routes, including T-Chowk, 26 Number Chungi, Faizabad, Mandrah, Chakwal Mor, and GT Road, have been closed to traffic.

Within the city, Park Road, Kalma Chowk, Dhoke Syedan Road, Tench Bhatta, and Mandi Mor are completely inaccessible. Additionally, 4th, 5th, and 6th Avenue, along with Raja Bazaar, Gawalmandi, Nazeer Cinema Road, and Kachehri Chowk, have also been cordoned off.

Reports suggest that routes connecting Chakwal to Rawalpindi, Murree to Rawalpindi, and Bhara Kahu to Islamabad are also under restrictions, adding to the transportation woes.

The extensive measures have caused significant disruptions, with citizens expressing frustration over the lack of alternative arrangements. Officials have yet to provide clarity on the duration of these restrictions, leaving commuters and travelers in limbo.
