KP Chief Secretary Warns Employees to Avoid Political Activities Amid PTI Protest

Peshawar ( Ghag Report):

As Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) prepares for its November 24 protest, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Secretary Nadeem Aslam Chaudhry has issued directives instructing all government employees to refrain from engaging in political activities. A formal letter has been sent to departmental heads across the province, emphasizing that it is the responsibility of public servants to remain impartial and non-political.

The notice highlights that participation in or support for political events by civil servants violates their professional ethics and could lead to disciplinary action. The Chief Secretary reiterated the importance of maintaining neutrality, especially during politically charged events, to ensure the effective functioning of state machinery and uphold public trust.

This warning comes at a time when PTI faces mounting criticism for its provocative approach, including the formation of a so-called “Jihadi Squad” for its protest, raising concerns about potential unrest. Meanwhile, the Islamabad High Court has already prohibited demonstrations in the capital on the same date, citing public safety concerns.

Observers see the Chief Secretary’s directive as a preventive measure to curb the politicization of administrative institutions, which could otherwise fuel tensions during an already volatile political climate.
