Major Source of Tension in Afghanistan is TTP

97% of Afghans are suffering from the worst economic problems. – Asif Durrani

I had no credulity that the Pak-Afg relationship would improve. – Asif Durrani

The TTP’s presence in Afghanistan is a major source of tension.

Peshawar: Asif Durrani, Pakistan’s Ex-Special Envoy to Afghanistan, recently completed tenure of his position. He stated that the TTP’s presence in Afghanistan is the largest barrier to improving ties between the two nations. He shared the opinion of some others that the Taliban’s victory would not significantly alter or improve relations between Pakistan and Afghanistan. The two nations’ relations are extremely complicated.

Senior journalist Tahir Khan stated in an exclusive interview that it is untrue to claim that Afghanistan has had any kind of social or economic stability or peace. The administration has a concerning problem given that 52% of Afghans are dependent on foreign aid and 97% of the country’s population lives below the poverty line.

In response to a query, he stated that relationships between Pakistan and Afghanistan are extremely complicated because of their respective tribal backgrounds and geographic challenges, and it is unlikely that these factors would change significantly anytime soon. Pakistan has always been negatively impacted by the situation in Afghanistan, where the majority of the issues are of their own doing. Although there is still a need to work towards normalizing relations, there is currently little chance of improved relations due to the tension created by the actions of TTP and other groups’ acts against Pakistan.
