In the context of the Shanghai Cooperation Conference, some senior PTI leaders are also against the planned protest, believing that it will not only bring shame to Pakistan but also further escalate the rift and tension between the state and PTI. Maulana Fazl ur Rehman and a few federal ministers have taken to the pitch to oppose the protest that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf announced in Islamabad on October 15.

As per media reports and party sources, the primary leaders who are against the protest are Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur along with Barrister Gauhar, Rauf Hassan, Asad Qaiser, and Shah Farman. Rather, he has also aimed at the provincial government and the leadership of the PTI Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Oddly, most of the leaders in this group are foreign nationals. Only Omar Ayub from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa supports the protests.

The party leadership in Punjab and other provinces, according to a prominent PTI politician and lawmaker, has left all responsibility to the PTI and the provincial administration, and they seem to be protesting via social media. He claims that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was responsible for 80 percent of the October 4 demonstration; as a result, 680 people, including two of our ministers, are still being held by the federal government and the Punjab’s administration. They are also in charge of around 80 government workers and numerous Khyber Pakhtunkhwa vehicles. We are no longer able to swiftly persuade employees or make more sacrifices or arrests.
