Rise of Security & Political Instability in KP

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Minister for Works and Communications, Shakeel Ahmed Khan, has resigned from his post, with accusations against the Chief Minister for “endemic corruption” within the provincial government, which were confirmed by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi by procedure. The governor stated in an interview with Dawn News that the terrorists in Dera Ismail Khan set up blockades after the evening. The chief minister, however, is not concerned about the security of his hometown. The governor further stated that the accusations made by former minister Shakeel Khan are morally repugnant. The CM should resign after that because the charges are serious.

Speaking about the current wave of terrorism in the province, he stated in the aforementioned interview that an investigation into General (retd) Faiz Hameed is warranted. According to him, his policies and dialogue process have led to an increase in terrorism in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and the CM cannot be considered exempt from this situation.

Given this, it is impossible to take Barrister Mohammad Ali Saif, the provincial government’s spokesman seriously, when he makes assumptions in his remarks during the news conference about the provincial minister. Regarding the province’s security state, the minister remained silent and was inaccessible to the media for informational purposes on the aforementioned issue. This provincial government only seems to be engaged in political point-scoring. The forces have killed around a dozen terrorists in the last two or three days, but the attacks on police check posts in merged districts have not stopped. The provincial government is indifferent to this, which is a matter of concern.
