Sadiq Khan Reappointed as Special Representative for Afghanistan

Backdoor contacts between the Afghan Taliban and Pakistan

There are also reports that the TTP is being established in Afghanistan

Forces conduct operations in South Waziristan and Lakki Marwat, but the provincial government is indifferent to the APC

Peshawar (GHAG Report):

Journalists have hailed the federal government’s decision to re-appoint senior diplomat Mohammad Sadiq Khan as the special representative for Afghanistan as a significant milestone. In the past, he has also held the position of special representative. Asif Durrani, a top Pashtun diplomat from Quetta, had previously served as a special representative. However, his term ended two months ago, and Sadiq Khan from Swabi has now been assigned to the position once more.

Some sources claim that during the past two to three months, backdoor contact between the leaders of the Taliban governments in Pakistan and Afghanistan has been established for the first time in a long duration. This coordination is attributed to the efforts of China and Russia. Additionally, two Gulf nations have taken steps to lessen resentment. Some credible news outlets have even asserted that a formula is being developed to establish the outlawed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan in two or three provinces of Afghanistan that are located far from Pakistani territory, thanks to the efforts and contacts of the senior Afghan leadership and the aforementioned nations.

In this context, the province of Ghazni has also been identified as a model project. With the assistance and financial support of these friendly nations, hundreds of TTP commanders and fighters will be put to the test in this regard, and it will be certain that there won’t be any more assaults on Pakistan afterward. The announcement of the formation commanders’ conference in Rawalpindi may be the cause of this. Unlike in the past, it has adopted a far more lenient stance towards Afghanistan. On the other hand, Pakistan’s security forces killed 8 Khawarij of the banned TTP in intelligence-based operations in South Waziristan and Lakki Marwat, while several others were also arrested. To review the security situation of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, a successful All-Parties Conference was held at the Governor House Peshawar yesterday in which a significant number of senior politicians besides almost all major parties and their leaders participated, but the PTI and its provincial government once again showed stubbornness and irresponsibility by not participating in the APC despite the formal invitation and boycotted it, which was strongly criticized by the majority of the people, including journalists and political circles, as most of them said that the PTI and its provincial government were not interested in the security situation of the province.
