Ghag Report

The Peshawar High Court surprised and alarmed the attorneys and police personnel in Tank and South Waziristan, among others, by appointing them to Dera Ismail Khan as the new location for their courts. Because of this ruling, the accused and their families, the petitioners, the police, and the attorneys will now need to travel over 100 km, and it will also open the door for the government to spend crores of dollars.

Some judges claim that their concerns about the state of law and order in these two districts are the reason behind this peculiar ruling of its sort. The solution provided by the High Court and the concerned justices was to move the courts of the two aforementioned districts to Dera Ismail Khan, which is not only against the 18th and 25th constitutional amendments but also a violation of the district administration’s inaction and lack of accountability. Instead, it’s an attempt to rob the petitioners and the populace of justice.

It’s also surprising that the administration and police, who were unable to protect their two district judges, employees, and other individuals at the district headquarters, will be transporting local law enforcement, accused individuals, and attorneys to DI Khan to handle cases. It’s unclear who will foot the bill for this process. Proponents and members of the public have expressed shock and worry at the decision, labeling it as incredibly foolish and raising questions about how Dera Ismail Khan, which has seen the worst attacks, has been deemed secure.
