Para Chinar (Ghag Report):
The violence in Kurram District continues to escalate, with the death toll now reaching 88, and over 111 people reported injured in multiple shooting incidents. Clashes between rival tribes have intensified, particularly in the Bagan and Ali Zai areas, as the conflict shows no signs of abating.
According to sources from local police and hospitals, recent gunfights in these areas have resulted in additional casualties, with two more individuals killed and 19 others injured. The violence also claimed the life of Mushtaq Hussain, who succumbed to injuries sustained during an attack on passenger vehicles traveling from Parachinar on November 21. This brings the total number of fatalities from the attack on the Parachinar-bound vehicles to 50.
Over the past four days, the violence in Kurram District has led to widespread disruptions, with all educational institutions closed due to the ongoing clashes and a shortage of fuel. The Kohat Board has also postponed the annual FA and FSc (Part II) exams in the region.
The main Peshawar highway has been closed to all forms of traffic, and both internet and mobile services have been suspended in the area, further exacerbating the already tense situation.
In response to the escalating violence, a delegation from the provincial government, led by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Law Minister Aftab Alam, Chief Secretary Nadeem Aslam, IG Police Akhtar Hayat Gandapur, and Commissioner Kohat, arrived in the region to negotiate with the warring factions. The tribal elders requested that the delegation work to reopen the main highway for travel and ensure its security, as the current blockade has caused severe disruption to transportation and essential services.
The ongoing violence in Kurram, particularly along tribal lines, continues to pose significant challenges to peace in the region. Authorities are calling for immediate measures to address the tensions, and a sustainable resolution to the tribal conflict remains critical to restoring stability in the area.
