Peshawar (Ghag Special Report)
The martyrs, injured, and their families of the December 16 tragedy at Army Public School have received a total of Rs. 1545 million from the Pakistan Army, the three civil administrations of Pakistan, and other institutions, direct help, and medical care. Each suffered family received several more long-term benefits in addition to being sent on Umrah. Instead, each injured person and martyr was given a plot in a DHA.
Based on the information and data that is currently accessible, the Pakistan Army gave Rs 1.2 billion to the martyred and the parents of the injured following the APS disaster, in which it transferred dozens of injured individuals overseas on its own and spent a total of Rs 337 million on their care. The Punjab government contributed Rs 61 million, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government contributed only Rs 41 crore, while the federal government contributed Rs 282 million for all of these costs and aid, according to sources.
The highest amount was paid by GHQ (Pakistan Army), and 729 million rupees were given in this regard, while XI Corps Peshawar also paid 62 million rupees in addition to providing some other needs and facilities. Despite all these measures, some parents with political affiliations took advantage of this, not only making false accusations against the security agencies and demanding more aid, but many also filed cases in the courts, even though the direct attackers of the tragedy were killed and the mastermind of the attack, Omar Naray, was also killed. Rather, a judicial commission was also formed that made its report public, and the then-corps commander in Peshawar had also recorded his statement before this commission. Action has also been taken against some officials. Almost all of the 12 terrorists involved in the attack were either killed or executed.
